Pet Sitter in Harrison, New York

I'm an
Individual
Hi! I have always been an animal lover and my dream is to be a dog trainer/behaviorist. I have 3 dogs at home; Zeus  (rottweiler mix), Chopper (terrier mix), and Sugar (a puggle). I also have a bearded dragon named Misanthrope, and a betta fish named Zip ?.  Currently I am working towards being a certified dog trainer. My full time job at the moment is managing a doggie daycare. In daycare, we can have as many as 70 dogs a day of all ages, ranging from 5lbs to over 100lbs, who are all very unique in play styles and personalities. Each day i am responsible for making sure that every dog and staff member has a positive experience. That includes teaching dogs AND human staff members how to communicate with eachother. I have worked in the daycare setting for about 5 years learning from people who specialize in dog behavior, so I have had a lot of time to observe/study dog pack behavior, and canine body language. Our dogs are taught to have manners and be respectful of eachother. Here, I have done over night care and walks. I have also been able to begin my journey into the dog training world by assisting in group classes along side individuals who have already earned their CPDT certifications. Before landing at my current job, I was employed as a kennel worker for about 1 year at an animal shelter. There I learned to care for dogs with behavioral issues,  litters of puppies, cats, and very sick animals. This is the place where I learned how to give medications (oral, topical, etc.) and even had experience giving insulin shots for diabetic dogs. I have attended a few different seminars and workshops over the years, from recreational dog agility, to dog aggression and plan on continuing to do so. Through my experience, I think the most important thing I have learned is to be able to indicate whether a dog is enjoying themselves or they are uncomfortable and what to do to improve that. My passion is to make sure every dog I come in contact with is as confident and comfortable in our world as possible. I hope to meet you and your furry friend soon!  ??
