If your dog tends to be protective of the house, I would like to meet him/her with you present prior to coming over to house sit. History with Dogs: At Haven Humane Society, I've spent 4 years and over 500 hours as an assistant trainer And as you can imagine, I've worked with dogs of many different breeds and temperaments. I've also been a counselor in 5 of Haven Humane's Camp Love-A-Pet programs, working with kids and helping teach them the skills to work with the shelter dog that they were paired with for the 2 weeks of camp. From there I went on to train my personal dog to be a Diabetic Alert Service Dog who passed his Public Access Test through the ADI. He also earned his obedience certificate through the sport of Mondioring. I've competed in and trained for a variety of other sports including dock jumping, weight pulling, Schutzhund, obedience/rally obedience, and lure coursing. I also have experience in feeding raw diets so I'm comfortable with house-sitting raw fed dogs. How I Work With Dogs: I use force free, reward based, fun methods based on building a strong partnership that creates a dog who wants to work for their handler. I start by building engagement (a desire to work with the handler) and go from there. I'm also well versed in clicker training and willing to teach things such as how to free shape fun behaviors.
