Hi! My name is Alexis & I’m a 27 year old Veterinary Technician here to San Diego County. I began my Veterinary career as a Vet Assistant in 2016, working w your small “pocket pets”. My fear of snakes was officially broken once I began to understand their behavior. I’ve had the pleasure of working w birds, hamsters, mice, rats, geckos, Guinea pigs, chameleons, our beautiful beardies & more. Soon after working w our small animals, I was introduced to the importance of socialization & confidence w|in our dogs. I have a background in behavioral training, as I’ve worked w rehabilitation of our “aggressive love bugs” that unfortunately find themselves in “death row” situations when there seems to be no other choice. There’s always an option. It is always up to us as the humans to take the time to understand the ways our pets communicate their needs to us. I will talk your ear off about THAT but, I am extremely passionate about client education to ensure the enrichment of the lives of our pets at home. It’s important that we respect the animals as they are, meaning cats & dogs are different for example :) & it’s up to us to be conscious of that so we are respectful of their needs /or boundaries. BUT let’s continue :). Aside from animal behavioral training & therapy, I have experience in veterinary emergency as well. That was a joy that I’ve been missing a tad bit, hut in order to one day be a well rounded Veterinarian, I’ll need to be open to every other area within vet med too. SO :) now I am working in “GP”, which is General Practice, also known as your daytime Vet/or what would be our primary doctor’s office. I lost my mom in November of 2021, & actually took about 7 months off from work due to the circumstances surrounding her loss. I am back to full time after months of hard work, sweat, tears & therapy. With the changes I’ve recently experienced, I’m doing my best to push myself into seeing that there IS a tomorrow - even w my mom no longer being here physically. I know she would want me to continue doing what I love. So, I’m getting back to it. Thanks for your time 💕
