I'm an
Individual
Former protection dog trainer turned dog sitter. I have been caring for dogs since I was 12 years old, and began training dogs at the age of 15. I worked as a protection dog trainer for several years and concluded my work when I left for college. My priority when caring for dogs is to ensure the dog feels safe, loved, and is kept in good health. I prioritize providing an appropriate amount of exercise for each dog based on their age, breed, and energy levels. I do not table feed dogs and will only feed them their food and any treats the owner is comfortable with their dog eating. Boarding: Any dog boarded with me is welcome to snuggle on my bed and will receive an infinite amount of belly rubs and neck scratches. My dog PJ and I love to spoil dogs with attention, hikes, and lots of play time. I do not go to crowded dog parks - the only dog your dog will interact with when boarded with me is my own. House Sitting: I ensure to follow the routine and boundaries set by the owner for house sitting to ensure the dog feels comfortable with a new person in their home. I have no problems caring for reactive dogs and love them as much as non-reactive dogs. I have in depth work with anxious dogs. My personal dog had severe separation anxiety, which I was able to train out of him. My parents dog was highly dog aggressive, which I was able to help rehabilitate her form. Apart from lots of exercise, I always make sure the dog is happy by listening to what the dog needs. I will never force a dog to do something they don't want to do (ex: go on a walk in the cold). Owning a giant breed myself, (Pittie / Great Dane mix) I welcome strong, leash pulling dogs. I can handle their strength and energy with no issues. ALL BREEDS ARE WELCOME - there is no such thing as an aggressive breed, only a bad human. I am always open to a meet and greet before any booking. I can accept bookings on short notice as well. I cannot wait to spend time with your pets :) I am a senior at the University of Michigan in my senior year. School is remote for me so I am home full time. I leave for the gym in the morning for about 1-1.5 hours (usually home by 8 am). I can adjust my gym schedule to books if needed. If I were to leave the apartment, I keep my dog in a separate room from a guest dog to ensure everyone is calm and falls asleep. Dogs are ALWAYS monitored from eating, what they sniff on walks, and especially play time. I ensure that play never becomes too rough, and will separate or end play time if a dog feels uncomfortable with the currently style of play. My dog PJ takes very well to correction from other dogs, and respects message from a correction if another dog feels uncomfortable. I generally verbally reinforce the correction to PJ as well. PJ does not correct other dogs, he is too nice and a big baby :). I keep dogs on a routine - since it has been scientifically proven to be optimal for a dogs physical and mental health. I will always follow the routine outlined by the owner. If no routine is necessary, that is totally acceptable as well. House sitting dogs will have my attention for 6-8 hour intervals. I only leave for about 2.5 hours to take care of my dog for a bit. I never introduce any dogs to a dog I am house sitting for. Regardless of booking request, I NEVER introduce dogs to other dogs on walks, nor do I take them to a dog park. Please see my Rover profile: https://....com/
