I'm an
Individual
Hello I am a combat veteran in recovering from the effects of war. I am really recovering from the loss of my service dogs Keno & Keiko, The Angels of my life, Toy Manchester Terriers who rescued me from the effects of Iraq when I could not rescue myself. They came into my life after I returned from Germany after serving as the senior medic of a heavy combat engineer battalion. I directed and gave medical attention to a few hundred engineers, indigenous men, women, and children, as well as, EPW's(Enemy Prisoner of War). They came to me from Ironton, Ohio via air transport with their little heads bigger than their bodies, at 8 weeks old. I needed something. Since learning that PTSD, reconstructive surgeries at WRAMC( Walter Reed Army Medical center) would be a permanent part of my life with time, coping would be easier. Keno & Kieko arrive and for the next ten years Keno & Kieko, a brother & sister, Manchester Terriers, pulled me from the darkest of pits. They got me thru my VA appointments, chronic, excruciating pain, loneliness, and classes at CSU. At night when I was in the throws of violent nightmares Keno would lay across my stomach using his tiny body to make me aware that he was near so I would not fall out of the bed as I had done so many time before and Kieko would deliver fast and furious doggie kisses until I awoke from my terror. "The Three Musketeers", Kathii, Keno & Kieko, hardly the trio Alexander Dumas conceived in his classic novel, but fearless nonetheless. Hopelessly and totally inseparable these two darlings transformed me back into the fierce, confident and compassionate leader I had always been. I could not have persevered without them. 29 Jun 16, I, tearfully emotional and reluctant, I sent them to wait for me at "The Rainbow Bridge" where all pets go to play without pain, suffering or loneliness. I am still recovering from my loss. I made a solemn promise in their memory that I would lavishly love and care for all doggies until I can gather the strength to adopt a adopt another doggie in need of a forever home. I believe this is my way to recovery. As I sit here sending my application to you, requesting that you allow me to care for your babies just as I loved and cared for my Keno & Kieko. That's my story and I'm sticken to it! (:o) I am still a student at CSU and I will do my very best to provide all the love, attention and fun I can provide. My residence faces a gold course with an iron fence and lots of grass to play, winding walking trails, individual neighborhoods and patrolling security 24/7 since the property is so expansive, a lake with lots of grass to romp around in. Lots of doggie and their babies parents too. There is also a dog park in the area with sections for large and small doggies. During some holidays we have running events where all owners, as well as their pets, are welcomed to come out and even dress up in costumes to be a part of the festivities. Lots of fun.
