Pet Sitter in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

I am looking to enrich my academic learning with hands-on animal experience. I am offering feeding, visiting/companionship, walking, basic grooming and basic training (I can lay ground work for more difficult tasks, however). I have familiarity with a myriad of different animals and I am passionate about every single species. I grew up on a farm in a very rural area, where my family consisted of horses, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and dogs. Living on a farm didn't satisfy my love for animals, however, and I frequently volunteered at animal shelters in my hometown. Having been surrounded by such a menagerie, I naturally sought a career in animal behavior when I left for college. I have frequently pet-sat within the past 7 years (mostly dogs), and was certified in pet first aid and CPR at one point. This certification has since expired, but I have the background and hope to re-certify myself in the future. I have trained basic dog commands and more complex forms, such as service dog training, therapy animal, nose work, etc. I have also continued volunteering my services and home to homeless animal through various shelter programs. I studied animal science and behavior at Penn State University in State College, and am now continuing my studies and growing my experience through pet sitting and internships while my husband completes his PhD in the area. I specialize in mammalian carnivores, but am fascinated and eager to learn about any animal the world has to offer. Having studied animals in an academic setting, I have rudiment knowledge about domestic animal training and behavior, and I look forward to expanding it through hands-on interaction and additional university schooling. My motives aren't strictly pedagogical; I genuinely love animals and enjoy taking care of them to the best of my abilities.
