Howdy! My name is Alana. I'm just starting out on this adventure, but references are available upon request. I have been in the veterinary field for over decade, and the one thing I've come to truly love is helping injured, special-needs, and elderly pets thrive! I know how taxing it can be on a family when their beloved pet needs more assistance and care than anticipated, and sometimes we all need a little help. Whether your pet is recovering from surgery, is in their golden years and needs a little help getting around, or has a chronic disease requiring regular injections, I got ya'll covered! I presently work full-time as the lead over the pharmacy and laboratory operations of a large 24/7 emergency animal hospital. While I love this position, I have found myself missing being more involved with directly caring for animals and assisting their pet-parents. While I've cared for a variety of animals throughout my life, I will admit that dogs, cats, and freshwater fish are my main forte. I've cared for some small animals and exotics in the distant past, such as sugar gliders, hedgehogs, snakes, and lizards, but I am a total greenhorn with livestock and birds presently. That said, I'm a quick learner and up to a challenge, and always eager to learn new things about any kind of animal! Just some more tidbits about me... - Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. I lived in Indiana for 5 years in my twenties, and must admit I miss the weather up there! - Of course, I love all dogs... but rottweilers and huskies are especially close to my heart! - I currently have 4 dogs, 3 cats, and an ever-changing number of freshwater fish. It ain't home to me if it isn't a zoo. Also the reason I cannot currently offer services in my home. No vacancies! - Outside of caring for animals, I also enjoy reading, writing, drawing and painting, and video games.
