Pet Sitter in Savannah, Georgia

I'm an
Individual
Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you my life revolves around my pets. I love to baby my pit bulls, Elvis (a previously abused 5-year-old) and Helena (a spry 12-year-old) but have raised them to respect people and other animals alike. Because I've come to a realization of the effects of the discipline I've enforced and adoration I've instilled in all my pets despite challenges like mast cell tumors, epilepsy, and arthritis, I've decided I want to pursue dogsitting more often. Kaylie, a grumpy, one-eyed Calico cat, was my first pet. She wasn't necessarily a cuddler and taught me that some animals need their personal space as much as humans do. Nonetheless, I pampered her until the day she was no longer with us. Next came Helena, who, for a brief time, had to share her new home with our elderly cat; they learned to get along and I raised my new pup to love cats and share everything she was given. Helena was adopted from a family in the suburbs of Cleveland and we've cherished her for over a decade. She brings so much personality into our home and has always maintained her mild temper, even when we introduced our new dog to the home. Elvis came to us through unfortunate circumstances; his old owner allowed their other pets to gang up on Elvis and eventually wagered him in a bar game of poker. We noticed his shyness immediately and helped him develop into a friendly, outgoing pup. Sadly, Elvis developed a number of mast cell tumors that had to be removed, but we've kept up with is treatment well. When I moved to South Florida for a few years, I came to care for my biological father's purebred bluenose pit, Porkchop. That boy was all muscle, but was relentlessly gentle and sweet. A few months later, we came across a skinny, neglected pit bull roaming the streets near our home in Fort Lauderdale; she was being used as a bait dog in a fighting ring and was covered in scars and grime. We took her home and rehabilitated her, casting out the unnatural violent qualities she'd been forced to adapt and creating a nurturing environment for her to allow her inherent sweetness to resurface. After a few weeks, we discovered her epilepsy and were quick to learn the best treatment regimen for her; I'd stay home with her whenever it rained, since I knew seizures were soon to come, and set timers to go off three times per day to administer her oral medications. Because of my experience with ailing pups, I am glad to administer medications topically or orally (or in any other form!) and will provide your pets with the utmost comfort during times of potential anxiety. My animal-laden youth also fostered a penchant for animals of all kinds and enabled me to become familiar with care strategies for reptiles, rodents, felines, and many other walks of life. I am also completely open to learning new or preferred care techniques and would be honored to provide care for any type of pet who needs to be looked after. Although I work full time, I have a flexible schedule and am dedicated to animal care. I have my own reliable form of transportation that is safe for pet transport and will allow me to drive considerable distances to provide care. Additionally, I am familiar with house-sitting and am comfortable staying overnight to watch pets, or for as long as you might need. If you are comfortable with your pets being in a warm and welcoming home with other friendly animals, I am also available to board pets. Upon request, I can take pets on long walks or to dog parks or training facilities (or wherever else you might want or need them to go). I am an active person who loves to bike and skateboard, so I'm glad to cater to high-energy pets and even young kids, if there is a need (I am a somewhat avid babysitter!). Personability, responsibility, promptness, creativity, compassion, and reliability are some of the traits I am proud to have been born with or developed and I'd be grateful for any opportunity to exercise them for the sake of animals. If you have any questions, feel free to contact or email me at any time!
