I have 12 years experience as a pet professional working with dogs, cats, reptiles, and small animals. I am actively involved in the sighthound rescue community and am passionate about raising awareness about the plight of the galgo Español. Though most of my volunteer/professional pet work has been with dogs, I love all animals. I currently have an adolescent galgo Español, a senior chihuahua/italian greyhound, a senior chausie cat, and an adult leopard tortoise who I've raised since a hatchling. I have experience with managing reactivity, insecurity, food-aggression, separation anxiety, and leash-pulling. I exclusively use reward-based methods that reinforce positive behaviors. My own animals are rescues and I've put a lot of work into rehabilitating them. Through non-profit work, I've worked alongside dog trainers who have helped mentor me. I adopt insecure personalities who need extra love and attention, so I am prepared to work with other highly anxious dogs. Administering medicine and special care for senior/disabled pets is something I'm comfortable with, too. I also have extensive cat experience with large and hybrid breeds. I am familiar with the fresh food diets, the exercise requirements, and the urgency of clean litter when working with highly active cat breeds and personalities. My reptile experience is mostly with the big tortoise breeds, but I'm open to working with with other reptiles. I have taken care of fancy rats, guinea pigs, and hamsters, as well. I'm open to animals of all sizes and their individual personality types and medical needs! ***I am established in a full-time career, own my home, and am financially secure.
