Pet Sitter in Austin, Texas

Hello, my name is Laura W. My husband Robert and I are semi-retired, we own a home in Austin, TX. We pet and house sit in the surrounding area. We like to travel and would consider going outside of our city and state. We would love to take care of your pets at your home where your pets will feel most comfortable. I have been a volunteer at the largest no facility in the U.S. right here in our hometown. I once rescued a wounded owl and found a rehab facility for it to be returned to the wild. I keep an eye out for loose animals in my daily travels and contact authorities when needed. We normally get our jobs by referral. This past summer we house sat in New Braunfels in a home with birds that talked, it was a hoot. If there is anything else you would like to know please contact me. I would be willing to come out to your home before your departure to meet you and your pets and to learn your preferred routine care for each one. I love animals and have cared for different species from a young age. My Mother was a school teacher and wanted her students and children to experience caring for animals which always ended up in our home including: fish, rabbits, guinea pigs and hatching chicks. In grade school we were given a pony so I began taking lessons in English and Western saddle. As I grew up, a woman in our horse riding club was being stationed in Saudi Arabia and needed someone to take care of her Arabian/Welch gelding which I did so through my Jr and High school years. During the Summer months I lead trail rides for campers and cared for horses at Girlscout camps in Julian, CA and Worland, Wyoming. I even wrangled cattle on horseback, camping for days in the mesas of Wyoming moving them to winter grounds. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and take pride in the care I give all animals. Once our son brought home an iguana and bearded dragons from his Science club to care for during holidays. I have always owned cats and dogs until a couple of years ago when we lost our beloved terrier and cat to old age. We decided to take a break from being pet owners and instead took on more pet sitting jobs. I am capable of administering medication in the form of: oral; injection and IV. I will groom, feed, water, walk or ride and clean up after your pets as needed. But most of all show them love and attention. I also clean houses on occasion in the Austin area so when you return, your house will be as clean as you left it or you can request for me to do a deeper cleaning for a fee. I have referrals for both types of jobs. I will perform whatever tasks are needed to take care of your house pets or farm animals. I would like a little history about your animals, such as potty habits, toys, chewing, biting, escape artists, sleeping and eating habits. This way I can determine anything out of the ordinary and address it. Also, the name of their veterinarian and permission on file to take them there in case of an emergency and a way to contact you in such a case.
