Hi there and welcome, I'm Thom Hemler. It would be a pleasure, and an honor to care for your friends. Dogs have been a part of my life since I was a very young man. As I grew up, I found obedience training to be an exciting past-time for the many dogs we had in our family. In MD, where I was born and raised, we lived near the water, in Havre de Grace. So, naturally, I took to training Water Dogs. In my twenties and thirties, I rescued Golden Retrievers from a Puppy Mill in Lancaster, PA. From puppies, I trained them, daily, with the basics. (Sit, Lay, Stay) Before too long, about 6 months, I had them trained to obey hand signals, and went everywhere, safely off-leash. I found myself showing the Retrievers, in professional dog shows. Terri and Jody had many ribbons in their prime. I loved having that quality time. They loved it, as well. And, they loved the water, and I believed they loved me! That feeling has never left me. Today, I volunteer at Main Line Animal Rescue. I, often, foster dogs and provide animal transport and, fundraising event, dog handling and training. Administration of prescribed medications, dog park visits, and Valley Forge trips (safely in my animal equipped SUV with dog belts) is also something I am glad to offer (depending on the animal's health and temperment, and owner permission). I've also worked, extensively, with Equine. Assisting the Farrier, or mucking stalls, grooming, Trail Boss, turn out services, feeding and watering. Also, medication administration. Exercising, riding, tack prep and clean. I find being with animals is more rewarding than being with any friend in the world! Because, they are some of the best friends in the world,! Unconditionally! Other people jump on their Peleton, I grab a leash and jump on a trail. I achieve better results, and for more than just myself! I would offer cat sitting, but a cat allergy prevents me. We, both, would be miserable, unfortunately. I believe that animals, of all breeds, feel the aura of safety and confidence that is part of who I am, and the way I present to them. Non-drinker, drug free, and available weekends, week nights, or local overnights.
