Hey there! My name is Bex! I'm still new to Lafayette and Indiana, but pets have always been a part of my life! I have deep personal, academic, and professional interests in animals. Through my lifelong experience and knowledge, I will care for your furry or scaly family members, whatever their needs. My availability is flexible, however, also also dependent on the bus schedule. About Me: - I have lived with cats from crib to college (20 years) and consider myself "fluent" in feline. I like to adopt black cats to defy superstition and help change shelter intake statistics. Back in North Carolina, I have two black kitties - Kepler (2 years old, skittish at first but now a playful, vocal, and curious troublemaker) and Nova (4 years old, the boss of the house and cuddly queen of sleeping anywhere) - and they couldn't be more wonderful! - Dogs are newer to me, but I have three canine roommates now and my love for them is beyond words! Link, an Australian Shepard, is my shadow around the house and keeps me warm when I'm sleeping. Be careful moving any blankets because Yowza, a tuxedo Chiweenie, likes to curl up under them for long naps. Bazinga, a Chihuahua, is sometimes a cranky old lady with a loud bark, but once she knows you, she's rather sweet, very adorable, and a young soul at heart. I never thought I'd like small dogs until I moved here. Previously, I lived with Bigsby, my parents' black pug, and regularly visited my brother's Corgi and cousin's fawn pug. My favorite breed are pitbulls for the reasons I like black cats: change misconceptions and reduce the shelter populations - plus they're beautiful dogs! - I study biology at NC State University and previously worked for the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. While there, I handled some "unusual" animals such as insects (tarantulas mostly) and reptiles (corn snakes and box turtles). I enjoy researching how best to take care of animals, regardless of the species, and work hard to give them the best care I can. - I have past experience both cat- and dog-sitting, both in IN and NC. I'm happy to feed, pet, and play with your animal companions while you're away! I don't mind cleaning litter boxes or indoor bathroom accidents either! - I can also send you pictures of your pets while you're away! If you like what you see, email me!
