I have a special kitty hence a special situation requiring a special caregiver! Little Blackie is a year old darling that was born feral last spring. We have a small feral colony on my block but when Little Blackie showed up he changed everything! I now have a cat door that allows him to come and go as he pleases, and one other cat, Kiki, is also allowed to sleep inside, though he only chooses to do so when the weather is cold or bad. So my main concern is Little Blackie. Since he was born feral he has come a long way, but he still gets very scared around anyone he doesn't know, and he won't let anyone but me touch him. But the icing on the cake is that he's got me trained to feed him by hand about 4 times a day! It's a special situation, I know! I'm not really looking for someone to replace me for the 8 days I'll be out of town visiting my elderly grandma, but I do need to make sure he's at least got access to fresh food twice a day, and to make sure he is ok, and make sure he and kiki are the only ones coming into the house. I'm a bit flexible on the exact timing of the visits as long as you come during the same hour window twice a day each day, once in the morning between 6 am and 9 am and once in the evening between 5 and 8pm. For the morning feeding I'd also ask you to place any leftover food from the previous day out for the outdoor cats during the morning visit (if no leftovers then fresh food will need to be put out), and dispose of any leftovers and rinse out the dishes during the evening visit. Also I prefer to lock him inside during the night, but this likely won't be possible, so I'll just need you to at least lay eyes on him twice a day. He stays in the immediate area for the most part, and he'll figure out soon enough that you are the one replenishing the food so it shouldn't be that difficult a task. I also have a neighbors that also takes care of the feral colony, so she can help you with info about sightings of him if you have trouble locating him. He likes to hide in the bushes and in neighbors yards! I realize it's not an ideal situation, but I love him dearly and since he was born outdoors and he found and adopted me, not the other way around, I feel like locking him inside a house or a yard just wouldn't be fair to him. I want him to live the life he chooses, so I provide good food, a warm comfy place to sleep, affection and love, and routine medical care and flea prevention, and he spends the amount of time with me that he wants to. I feel lucky just to be able to be close to this perfect little creature for whatever time I have. I would like to protect him from every danger all the time, but I feel like that would be selfish.
