I'm Laurel (aka, "Pet Purrfessor") and I love ALL animals (thus, the koala in my photo). I'm particularly good with cats, but am happy to work with dogs and other pets such as birds, fish, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, and reptiles also. I can feed/water, socialize, and walk/exercise your pet whilst you are away. Other optional services include bringing in mail and/or watering house plants. I'm a non-smoker, have my own transportation, and my schedule is flexible. I am based in Pasadena, but can cover surrounding areas as well. Pet First Aid and CPCR certified. One thing I've learned about animals over the years is that each one has his or her own "personality". Consequently, I study your pet’s body language and behavior in order to deliver personalized and professional in-home care tailored to his or her specific needs. Getting to know every pet is a pleasure and so I like to assess their personality so that we can get acquainted on their terms. I strive to develop trusting relationships with animals based on consistency, love, compassion, respect, honesty, and lots of patience. All animals are worthy of respect and kindness, and I consider them highly intelligent beings. So, every pet deserves the best care possible and their safety and well-being is my priority. I received my MS and Ph. D. in Psychology (Animal Behavior, Conditioning, and Learning) so I am very familiar with behavior analysis and training methods. I apply training principles and techniques to make delivery of any necessary medications or treatments as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
