My first pets caring experience started when I was about 12 y.o. It was a huge Caucasian Shepherd Dog, owned by our neighbors. It was a boy, trained as a guard dog for their house. But the neighborhood was too safe, so the dog was dying of boredom. So I was walking, feeding and playing with him for about 2-3 months. Then he moved to guard another house in other region. Collie breed was the second dog I used to take care of. Again it was the dog of my neighbors, but this time we established long lasting relationship. We became good friends and our friendship lasted for about 6 years. I moved to the other part of the city, shortly after that dog's owner died. Owner's husband took the dog to another city and we completely lost any contact. My new neighbors got 2 dogs - a gorgeous Italian Greyhound and a Papillon breed (with butterfly-shaped ears). The second one was very reclusive and barely showed any interest on the outer world, while Greyhound was really active and friendly with all.
