Patient and understanding of elderly dog

Pet Owner in Durham

Hi, I have a 15 yo snorkie (schnauzer Yorkie). He is my baby. He doesn't require a lot of physical attention because like a very elderly adult he sleeps quite a lot and is senile. He is sweet and adorable and rarely barks anymore. At his advanced age he has some health issues. He is going blind and deaf. His dept perception is not good at all, so he cannot really go down stairs very well, he can go up them. He also has some arthritis in his back end. He as early renal disease and a large tumor that is not operable. I know this sounds very bad, but he is not in any pain, has an appetite and is generally a happy dog with bouts of energy at times. He takes several pills that we hide in chicken pieces to get him to eat. We have to keep sheet and blankets down in the carpet because he does go to the bathroom in the house even though he has a doggie door. The doggie door seems to be getting difficult for him to do, but still uses is a couple times a day. , he was never crate trained and at 15 I am not going to make him miserable. It sounds like a lot but it not as vas as it sounds.
