Pet Sitter in Columbia, North Carolina

I'm an
Individual
Hello my name is Carolyn. I love caring for animals, and look forward to helping others. I want families to feel comfortable in their need to hire an individual such as myself whom is caring towards their pets, as I feel confident in my abilities to look after and facilitate the needs involving the care of different, and multiple animals. I have years of experience in caring for dogs, cats, and other small animals within my own home at infancy to senior in age. I am great with tasks such as feeding, administering medications, walks, boarding, overnight stays, and the like. I love dog walking, and am comfortable commuting to parks or other areas a pet may be familiar, for example the beach. I love all sized animals and have a special love for larger dogs. I also love cats where even though they may seem in less need of attention, I believe they do need proper stimulation and care as well. Play time is an important aspect in the health of an animal and will happily be facilitated, as well as regular exercise; I ask that an owner to please provide a leash, preferably with a harness, in the case of walkings and exercise outside of the home to ensure your pet's safety and care. I will in no circumstances use a choke, or any similarly styled collar for any reason, and ask they are not expected to be utilized. While I do not have a grooming license, I am great at shampooing and other light cleanings such as regular brushings if needed. I ask that supplies such as shampoos, lotions, sprays, brushes, toothpaste etc., be provided in the case of boarding and overnight stays. If required, they may be purchased with an agreed upon reimbursement at the owner's expense with provided receipts. If necessary, I can provide a dryer and towels if desired. I ask for a small fee in compensation for this type of detailed care which is negotiable. I do not mind less desirable work such as scooping litter boxes, cleaning cages or messes left if they ever should arise. Services such as nail clipping can be scary for animals if they do not know the person whom is facilitating it, and recommend that in the interim it be handled by the owner and or veterinarian/ groomer until a pet becomes more comfortable. I would like to note I am also familiar with the care of horses and while I do not have extensive work with them, I am comfortable learning their needs if it is required of a family as I know Wellington has a greater need for such a service. I regularly worked with horses during many summers at camps, and consider it a great opportunity to learn from an owner and work with them further. If there is a fish in the home I can provide feedings if necessary. I have less experience with rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters but am familiarity with their needs; I had a few hamsters and a chinchilla growing up and even fostered baby squirrels. I am not familiar however with reptiles, other amphibians, or birds, other than the occasional brief foster/ rehabilitation back in the day. I will also abide by any house or home rules one may seem fit, for example kennel and basic obedience training; I encourage families to have a detailed list of wants and needs available to me so that an animal is taken care of to the best of my abilities. I require and expect that before hire, a family will also take the time in including any vital information, such as veterinary and other contact information in the case of an emergency. Don't feel shy in creating one in detail so that your pet(s) may have a well-rounded and overall positive experience while you are away from your home. I am flexible with pay, and am comfortable with overnight stays as well as boarding dogs, cats, and the medium sized animals that can be transported by car easily; I would also like to mention that I had traveled with animals from Florida to Georgia and back, during Hurricane Michael in 2018. As I am completing my MBA, I will be unavailable Monday nights from 5:30 to 9pm while in class, however my schedule is virtually open with high flexibility. I have a license and my own transportation, and currently commute between Boca, Wellington, and Stuart. Please message me with any questions, I look forward to hearing from you! Best, -Carolyn
