Watch friday ;) Current Work Today in my sculptural works I am experimenting with my theories on the innate power that formal presentation possesses and coupling it with personal and political statement and observations which I explore with humor and a sense of irony. Here containment works as vehicle to clarify communication. Transforming power of containment/ transform function and meaning Transform the intent of the object Recontextualize Contextual manipulation Start with original intent and expand or reposition it. I see my process like fine tuning a radio Exploring culture Examining my responses to life events Narrowing the focus In the broadest sense, I believe that for an idea to be accessible it has to be contained. The (explore ideas that range from) the messages I wish to convey through my use of these objects can range from the intensely personal to the socially humorous. There is a certain magic that can be exercised through the manipulation and contextual presentation of temporal (common) material I see ideas as free flowing and communal, ever evolving and completely malleable. So in my work there is a dichotomy. To claim and contain an idea to me then is ironic defying the nature of idea itself. My deepest desire is to be at once mysterious and understood. Define Found Object I feel the term “found object” suggests an incidental nature, so I do not use it when talking about my work. The objects that I select are carefully considered chosen based upon their utility and the story I see with them… my personal relationship Audience Though my work is intended for an audience that has experiences and interest in art I hope that my choice of materials, content, and clarity of communication add availability
