I am a true dog lover by nature and ready to take care of yours while you are away. Not only have I always grown up with both cats and dogs, but I frequently "dog sit" for family friends. When sitting, taking care of the pup (and home) become a top priority. My current schedule is quite flexible which affords me the opportunity to give your pet all the love and attention it needs. Being that I have pets of my own, I definitely consider pets as actual family members. I know how hard it can be to leave your pup behind but with me, you can travel easy knowing your loved one is in very capable hands! Before sitting, I definitely think it is important to meet your dog. I want the dog to feel comfortable with me just as much as I am with him or her. I also like to get details about the pup's routine...including feeding times, snacks, walks, bathroom, favorite toys, etc. Having some details about their mannerisms and demeanor is another things I like to know. This gives me a better idea of how your dog acts during a typical day. Any rules or "no-nos" are another thing I like to know before sitting. I do not have any breed preferences at all...a dog is a dog if you ask me! Why I love dog sitting: From day 1, I have been around dogs. My first dog grew up right along side me and will always be my "best bud." Since Toby, my family has not gone for more than 1 month without a canine in the house. Our current pup, Teddy, is a 3 year old German Sheppard/Pit Bull mix (aka a moose!) and the biggest baby in the world. All three of the dogs I grew up with were adopted from either humane societies or no- shelters. I know that when I finally have the room and yard for my own dog that I will adopt from a shelter as well. Since I have been around dogs all my life, I have experience with training and taking care of dogs as they mature and grow up. My experience administering medication: I have given medication to both my cat and dogs in the past and feel very comfortable doing so. Sometimes it can be a battle, but I have a few tricks that seem to work. Time I'll spend with your dog: I currently have minimal commitments and a flexible schedule. This means I can dedicate most of my attention to your pet. I would be gone, at the longest, for 3-4 hours a day due to appointments or errands. When dog-sitting, I like to match the amount of play or exercise time they normally receive. This may mean a short walk around your neighborhood or playing fetch in the yard. So long as your pet is comfortable, I have no guidelines of my own for sleeping arrangements. Whether it be in the bed next to me, on a couch or in a kennel. Extra house-sitting services: I am more than willing to keep your house up and running while you are gone. This includes anything from opening/closing the blinds and checking the mail to watering plants and feeding fish.
