Pet Sitter Job in East Haddam, Connecticut

I'm an
Individual
My name is Louise. My husband, Michael, and I have three senior labradoodles, the only "kids" we have. We have a grooming/training business, and used to do sitting as well, so we know the value of the work you do. We are looking for someone for occasional sitting of our three dogs in our East Haddam home, as our long time sitter has quit to attend to medical issues. We live an hour or so away from our closest family, so even family visits usually require a sitter. Additionally, we typically take a few days away a couple of times yearly. It may not sound like much, but it really works out to more than what it may seem. Django is 12 years old, and he believes that everyone he meets is a great friend. He has chronic kidney disease, for which he takes a couple of medications, and he eats a prescription diet. He's super sweet and has loads of personality. Jolie is 11 years old, and is wicked smart, a problem solver. She had a bout with cancer two years ago, but is just fine now, thank you. The radiation therapy she received at that time, however, left a bald patch on her back, so you may see her in a shirt if the weather calls for it. She is very sweet and loves affection, but may get into mischief if circumstances are right for it, particularly if food is involved. Sissy is Jolie's littermate, and the two are thick as thieves. They do most things together. Sissy was very ill as a puppy, and missed some early socialization. As a result, she is fairly shy. Though she doesn't bite, she may take some time to warm up to a new person. Once she does, she's quite affectionate, and gives generous kisses. She does not do well with other animals, so a sitter should not bring a dog along with for a visit. We separate the three dogs at meal times, as Django eats more slowly than the other two. We wouldn't require a sitter to do this, but you should monitor them while they eat to be sure everyone gets their share. Django gets meds twice daily, which he takes readily in a pill pocket. He does need extra potty breaks, due to his illness, and must have ready access to fresh water at all times. The dogs have a kennel area in the yard, accessed via a ramp off our deck. This is where they do their outdoor business. As long as the gate is closed, they can be let out the back door off leash. We use Chester Veterinary Clinic for all care during office hours, and Piper Memorial for emergencies after hours. All three dogs are covered by veterinary insurance, and Chester Vet would see them with our authorization, if necessary. All three doodles have mellowed with age, and are pretty much couch potatoes at this point. They are sweet and funny, and we love them. If you think you might be interested, please email me at [email protected]. I would like to set up a meet and greet in the next week or so.
