Pet Sitter in London, Ontario

I have recently completed my Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Western Ontario (UWO). Although I am actively seeking a position in the chemical engineering industry, I am also looking for jobs related to animal care in the meantime. From Feb 2015-Apr 2017 I worked as a veterinary assistant at London North Animal Hospital. Some of my responsibilities for this position included the following: administering medications, assisting veterinarians during surgeries and appointments, performing digital x-rays, blood tests, and fecal tests, creating and sterilizing surgery packs and restraining animals during venipunctures, enemas, nail trims, etc. Some of my kennel attendant duties included providing hospitalized animals with food, water and a comfortable area with plenty of blankets and toys. I would shower the animals with love and attention to help ease their stress while in the clinic. The vast responsibilities of this job not only intensified my passion for animals but also strengthened my monitoring and critical thinking skills which are necessary to be successful in providing care to pets. My family has also had animals throughout my entire life. I grew up in the country surrounded by many cats, dogs and bunnies. I was born into a family where two yellow Labradors were like my sisters. I also had a 15-year-old tabby cat named Nori who unfortunately passed away this year due to kidney failure. I administered Nori’s medication every night and pet her as she ate her food as that was the only way she would eat it. I nurtured Nori during this stressful time through her palliative care. When you are gone, and your fury loved ones are missing you, I will give them the attention and compassion they need.
