Personally I think everyone should have a pet. They bring so much love and happiness to a family, because pets teach children the art of caring for others. Through the childrens interaction with pets, they feel the love and devotion they give to their family. The main experience I have is in taking care of the pets of my children when they go out, or on extended holidays (at which time I simply move into their homes). I have taken care of my daughters two cats (and sometimes they needed their medications), her dogs (always friendly to me!) - one was a German Shepard (sadly departed), the new family member, a German Wire Hair Pointer (both were/are large dogs) and also my sons three Chihuahuas.
