I know it can be nerve-wracking to have to leave your loved one in the care of a stranger, but I am here to help make the experience more comfortable for both of you. My name is Olivia and I am an animal lover, just like yourself. I am offering pet sitting services to small animals from my home here in Ottawa. I have a lot of experience in pet care and am very knowledgeable in almost all of its areas. I have personal experience and expertise in rodent care (including rats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, mice, and hedgehogs), bird care, and fish care. I do not provide service to snakes or lizards however, as I do not feel my knowledge base is wide enough in that area yet to do so comfortably. About Liv (That’s me!) As with most pet sitters, my love for animals began when I was very young. Growing up, I was lucky enough to always have animals in my life. My parents were extremely generous and allowed my brothers and I to own all different kinds of pets throughout our childhood, including (but not limited to) fish, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rats, mice, rabbits, budgies, and even a Giant African land snail! We also had a Lhasa Apso named Bailey and a cat named Teasle. I am so grateful to have grown up with animal companions. I think it taught me so much in terms of responsibility, patience, and compassion. I will never forget all the wonderful little creatures whom I shared my childhood with and the happiness they brought me. Right now I am a part time student at Carleton University here in Ottawa, just finishing up my degree in Psychology before I enter the Veterinary Technician program at Algonquin College in the fall. I am very excited to have the opportunity to learn more about animal care and medicine and am very much looking forward to working in the veterinary field someday. My partner and I live in a spacious two-bedroom unit in a low-rise, pet-friendly apartment. We are both quiet, gentle people who would rather be outside appreciating nature or reading a book than anything else. I believe our quiet dispositions make us particularly appreciative of animals and the simple joys they bring. Together we own Zoe, a tiny Himalayan kitty we adopted in October, and also a feisty beta fish named Sebastian (Sebby) who resides in a five gallon tank all to himself. After I have completed the Veterinary Technician program, I plan to adopt a family member of the canine variety. In the future, I hope to combine my psychology degree and my veterinary technician program and work in the field of animal behavior.
