I cannot imagine my life without pets. I grew up with cats, dogs, hamsters, birds and fish and loved each and every one of them equally and cried equally with the passing of each one. But I have always been grateful for the time I was lucky enough to spend with them, and each and every one of them taught me a lesson. As I got older, my experience was that my pets found me! I became \"mother\" of several stray cats over the years and my last came in a batch on a trip to Mexico City where I found a box on a street corner with 8 beautiful eyes staring up at me. They were so tiny they had to be bottle fed and they were flea and worm infested but after many sleepless nights we made it though. We all traveled back to Toronto with an adopted Great Dane as well which was quite an adventure. Dog and cats had an incredible bond. My great Dane became ill at the age of 9 and he required special care, cleaning, grooming and medications up until his passing. I never tired of caring for him, and hand fed him my grandmother\'s (and his favourite!) cookies until he took his last breath. The feline side of the family is still here with me in Toronto and keep me on my toes, happy, loved and entertained and I am forever grateful. While in Mexico I worked in various animal shelters, feeding dogs, caring for minor wounds and taking them for walks on the grounds. Most of these dogs were abused and/or abandoned. Some had been set on fire and others hobbled along on 3 legs due to amputation from infections. All had a story and all were my teachers. I treat others pets the way I treat my own. With great love and great respect. I adore all animals and I am presently "owned" by 4 cats that I found in Mexico City when they were kittens. I have grown up with cats, dogs, fish, birds and hamsters. I have volunteered in various animal shelters in Mexico City and worked for a cat sitting agency years ago in Toronto. I am accustomed to feeding cats and dogs a variety of foods from standard dry to raw foods, cleaning litter boxes, regular grooming of cats dogs and birds as well as daily walks and basic aquarium maintenance and feeding of fish. Always performed with love, affection and respect.
