Growing up, I can proudly say to this date as well, Animal Planet was by far my favourite television station to watch. I was glued to the tv when anything animal related was on. I grew up always having animals in my house; from dogs, cats, fish and even bunnies. My love for animals goes beyond that of most people because I truly consider them family members and will not stand for any animal abuse regardless of the severity. In my opinion, boarding a dog while on vacation is harmful to their development and even their ability to trust. Animals need one on one attention, love and simply just someone to be around. Working with animals has always an area of great interest for me and I strive to work for the SPCA one day. I was taught at a very young age the responsibility of having a pet and how to properly take care of one. Even from a young age, I was trusted with the daily animal care giver duties because my parents always worked late. I fed my pets (dog and cat) every morning, afternoon, and night, provided physical activity and play time and showered them with love an affection. My love for animals was apparent to those in my neighbourhood and soon I was asked to pet sit multiple dogs while families were on vacation during the summers. This involved hours spent each day with their pets; feeding, grooming, playing and walking them. I still cannot think of a better way to spend summer vacation.
