I believe that pets are like children and would call myself a proud pet parent. When I say pets are like children I mean they deserve love, affection, discipline and attention. Just like with children, all "parents" have specific requirements and schedules for their pets and I would respectfully follow them. I've had a lot of experience working with (and owning!) rescues and am sensitive to the behavioral issues and health issues these animals may have. I have experience with dogs, cats, pigs and a variety of small mammals. Nothing warms my heart more than spending time with animals and making them feel loved.
