Hi there! My name is Marie, I am a 21 year old pre-veterinary animal science major at UC Davis, and, as you can already guess, my biggest passion in life is animal care. I started volunteering at my local pet rescue as soon as they let me, and even before that, I was collecting strays, nursing them back to health and rehoming them. I volunteered in shelters until I turned 20, when I started working at the UC Davis veterinary hospital as a veterinary technician. As a result, I've been taught, and have studied, many different ways to train and handle dogs, based on their needs and behavior. My own dog came to me as one of those "lost causes" you often see in the shelter: aggressive, fearful and willing to protect her space with a bite-she had never lived anywhere but the street. Now she lounges in bed with her silly fluffy dog-grin and does happy dances when I ask her if se wants breakfast. I've had children run up to her at the park, grabbing her face fur and petting her- all she does is sit down and lick their little hands. No dog is a lost cause, and there is no such thing as a bad dog! I can guarantee you (and my references will confirm this) that your pets will be showered with love as if they were my own. My areas of expertise include difficult-to-handle dogs, administering medications for those who need doses throughout the day, any breed/size of dog, cats, exotics (ferrets, chinchillas, some reptiles-primarily tortoises and bearded dragons, and birds.), and small animals. I can also brush up on some training with your dogs if you so desire. I can either watch your pets in my home or stay in yours-I am very respectful and clean, often my clients return to a cleaner home than they left. My rates (these are flexible for multi-day stays): $20/hour ($25 if the animal does need really specialized care, like medicine etc) Base daily price is $40/day (this goes up by $5 per additional cat/small animal, or $10 per additional dog) Keep in mind that I am always willing to negotiate- my focus here is to provide high quality care, money is a secondhand matter so that I can spoil my puppy.
