Hello! My name is Amanda and I love working with animals. I had two cats and a variety of fish when I was younger. However, my family had to give up the cats because my father is allergic to them. Later on, we got a male black miniature poodle and named him Midnight. My sister and I alternated turns taking him out for walks and bathroom breaks. I fed him a specific amount of food set by our vet at a specific time of day every day. We played plenty together, too! I also watched my neighbors cats and dog for several years after school. I would check the cats litter, water and food bowls and replenish them as needed, and I let the dog out so he could bathroom (and so we could play!). In my early teens, my family and I adopted a pony at Horses Haven here in Michigan named Pokey. We brushed, fed, and petted Pokey as often as we visited him. However, as a young adult fresh out of college, I haven't gotten the right opportunity to care for animals like I used to when I was younger. Yes, I've occasionally cared for my friends' cat while they went back home for a weekend and I was on campus, but that was an opportunity few and far between. The closest to constant animal care I've gotten is my boyfriend's cat (a taken in stray) and dog (who was rescued from her abuser as a puppy), who both like me. Needless to say, it was love at first sight for me! While we are still working on our relationship, Paulie and Lucy are some of the sweetest, cutest critters I know.
