Pet Owner in New Milford
Good morning Everyone! I will be going out of town from December 23rd - 28th and am looking for someone to care for my 2 Dachshunds.Normally they go everywhere I go and it saddens me that they are unable to make the trip this year. My girl Bella is having a hard time and this winter is going to be harsh and I do not want to put her or her body through a long road trip and cold weather. We would prefer that the person caring for our dogs has them at their place, not ours. Bella is a 4 year old Cocker Spaniel/ Dachshund Mix. Chester is a 5 year old long haired Dachshund. Pet sitters home CANNOT have: -Children under the age of 8- our dogs are afraid of little kids -Other pets - Bella, our girl is OK with pets but we rescued Chester from a puppy mill situation this past year and he is very afraid of other animals still. Both Bella and Chester are potty trained BUT they will not ask for the door, we usually let them out ever 2 hours or so just to make sure they do their business outside. They are both kennel trained if you have to leave anywhere, and are good for about 8 hours. The only requirement is they both get a kong with peanut butter to help keep them occupied. Bella is our barker but she does stop and we do not allow her to bark and carry on constantly. Chester is a quiet boy who really is just looking for a lap to sit on or someone to snuggle with. Both dogs may have separation anxiety on the first day we leave but normally calm right down. Bella has been going to camp bowow for several years and Chester has gone a few times this year to get him used to other animals and both have attended the dog park several times this year. Feeding: Both dogs receive a 1/2 cup of Blue Buffalo dog food once a day and mixed in with that dog food is fruit and vegetables. This is not something you have to do, its just something we like to do for them. IMPORTANT: The reason we are unable to bring Bella is because she has calcium on her spine and it causes her to be in some pain. Bella should not be allowed to jump on or off furniture unless there is hardly any height. She does take 3 kinds of pills twice a day. You just put all 3 pills in a treat in the morning and at night and she swallows it immediately. We have a pet ramp for Bella and we would be more than happy to provide it to help her with mobility. Bella and Chester are my babies so I am sure you understand my fear and concern when leaving them with others. BUT I am extremely hopeful that we will find someone or someone will find us to take good care of them for a few days as if they were their own. We understand that these dates are on Christmas and we know that may be tough and we apologize for that. Please contact me at anytime if you are interested in meeting our dogs and becoming what we hope will be our go to dog sitter. Even if you feel you are not "qualified" enough, please contact me anyway. Sometimes those who do not have what some consider are good qualifications or a certain amount of reviews/clients are just as wonderful as those who have done this for 20 years! :) THANK YOU! Katie S.
