Everyone only wants the best care for their family members when they can't join in a special occasion away from home. There are no exceptions for family pets! If you are one of the lucky few who can bring your furry family members wherever you go, I am insanely jealous. But if you are like the rest of us, you need someone to care for your pets while you are away. That's where I come in. I came to really enjoy being around animals at a very young age and can vividly remember playing with a neighbor's dog at two years old. I was given a pair of hamsters when I was four and immediately fell in love with them! Being pocket pets, they were not too big for my small hands, so I carried them around everywhere in my house. My only dog was rescued from a shelter, and his name was Chico. He was an apricot Chihuahua/Miniature Poodle mix, and he was so scared. I took care of him and he became my protector; he would literally try to bite ankles with all six of his teeth. It was a valiant effort, but he never accomplished much in that area. But he loved me and I loved him! After his passing in 2002, I began pet-sitting to fill the void of his loss. I have been fortunate enough to have been asked to care for many pets since then! I started pet-sitting with a pair of Weimaraners named Maggie and Enzo. I would care for them after school before their owner arrived home from her late shift at work. I realized I really loved being involved in the care of animals, so I have continued pet-sitting since then. In the years to come, I would care for cats, hamsters, Koi fish (who are named Uno, Dos, and Tres), and every size of dog from Yorkshire Terriers to English Mastiffs. I remember each one for different reasons, and every one of them still make me smile. As far as my real-life goes, I am the proud Fairy-Dog-Mother to my God-parents' two (yes, two!) 200lb English Mastiffs and a 15lb Bichon Frise who thinks he's a 200lb English Mastiff. We don't tell him differently; he would just tell us we were delusional. I take care of them when my God-parents are out of town and have done so for many years. I am also a part-time student at UNM finishing out my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. I take online classes so my schedule is really open. I am not currently able to take care of pets in my own home, but I am willing to commute within a 15 mi radius including Talpa, Arroyo Hondo, and Arroyo Seco.
