Hi! My name is Suzy and I have had pets in my life from the time I was 5 years old. I spent many weekends as a young girl in arenas where my family would proudly show our Standard Poodle, German Short Haired Pointer, and Kuvasz. I have always had a love for animals which grew even more as I got older. I have always considered pets to be a member of the family and I provide a high level of care. I have experience working with medically fragile dogs and I am very familiar with administering medication. When I was younger, my family participated in the Adopt A Greyhound Rescue Program. Growing up with rescue dogs helped increase my awareness of being able to recognize each animal as an individual. Exposure to rescue dogs has helped me develop an understanding of animals with high anxiety. I believe one on one attention is very important for all pets, particularly ones that have lived with trauma. When we meet, you will realize I am a very reliable and caring person. I am happy to walk long distances with your energetic pet. I am also very patient, so if your senior companion needs a slower paced stroll, I am happy to provide this service as well. I spent 20 years working in Social Services and for many of those years I worked as a Behaviour Therapist. This entailed helping clients to correct negative behaviour patterns while reinforcing positive ones. These behaviour modification techniques also apply to working with animals. They are much smarter than what they are often given credit for. My fiancée and I have 2 wonderful senior dogs. We have a 9 year old Golden Retriever (Cody) and a 9 year old Great Dane (Sam).
