Business address: 360 Bell Blvd, Belleville, ON K8P 5H8 Work Location: Same as above Type of Employment: Full-time – Permanent Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Description: Administer treatments as prescribed by a veterinarian Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under the direction of a veterinarian Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery Counsel clients on animal health care, behaviour, nutrition, post-surgical care Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery Perform vitals on patients for appointments/surgery Prepare patients for surgery, place IV catheters, drug calculations Sedation, induction, intubation Clean and sterilize surgical instruments Perform blood pressure readings Perform digital x-rays, including dental x-rays Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals Provide wound and bandage care Answer phones Requirements: - Education: Completion of a two or three-year animal health/veterinary technology college program is required - Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or Assistant is required. - An empathic person who can stay calm under stressful situations Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Handling heavy loads, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Fast-paced environment, Standing for extended periods, Combination of sitting, standing, and walking, Repetitive tasks, Work under pressure, Physically demanding, Tight deadlines Personal Suitability: Client focus, Organized, Team player, Initiative, Accurate, Efficient interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Judgement Language: English is required Salary: $21.00- $... hourly, 32- 40 hours per week.
