Pet Sitter Job in Riverside, California

I'm an
Individual
I'm seeking pet sitters with flexible schedules who can look after my two senior cats on a somewhat regular basis whenever I'm away for an event, full day or over a work trip or vacation. You must be located in the Riverside area because it does not make sense to commute for 30-60 minute drop in visits and I generally require up to 5 of these drop in visits per day. I do not need you to always be able to cover all visits in a day but being able to cover at least 2 would be ideal. Drop in visit times are generally 6-7am & pm, around 10am & 1pm (these two times are somewhat flexible) and between 9-10pm. Insulin is given at 6:45am & pm everyday and glucose is always tested before insulin as well as around 10am and around 9:30pm. I would prefer to find someone who has experience with feline diabetes including testing glucose and administering insulin injections but if you do not have experience then you must be willing and eager to learn how to test and give insulin as well as learn about feline diabetes in general in order to know when to give and when not to give insulin and how to react to emergencies like hypoglycemia. If you have a fear of needles, blood, accidentally being scratched or bit or even cats in general then please do not apply. While I do usually keep nails trimmed and I provide plenty of options to protect yourself including gloves, arm covers, apron, blankets for wrapping the cat and also a calm and cozy wrap designed to calm a cat for things like medications and injections, I still need someone who does not have these fears, especially when it comes to emergencies, like hypoglycemia, giving insulin when Dusty does not want to cooperate, or if one of the cats needs to go to the vet but feels well enough to put up a fight. Also, a bite that actually punctures skin is very unlikely but is always a possibility, so it is important to be able to recognize when a cat is becoming overly agitated but still needs to be handled and make sure you protect yourself from a potentially bad bite while still being as gentle as possible with the cat. There are plenty of ways to keep both you and the cat safe. Responsibilities will include providing food, encouraging them to eat (adding toppers if needed), giving supplements, clean water dish or refill water fountains, scoop litter boxes, testing glucose, administering insulin, letting me know if anything seems off or abnormal and encouraging them to play or just sitting with them and petting them. If you have a genuine passion for cats and proven pet sitting skills then I invite you to please contact me.
