Pet Sitter Job in Etobicoke, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
Job Posting: I posted this advertisement earlier, but we have already found a petsitter who looked after our bunny while we were away. I'm leaving this post here for now, but we are NOT CURRENTLY LOOKING for a petsitter. Nice to meet you! My name is Andria. I am interviewing a rabbit caregiver living in Etobicoke, Ontario or Toronto, Ontario. We live in South Etobicoke. We are looking for someone to care for our elderly dwarf bunny named Do-Do, who will turn 11 on August 9th, 2022. Over the course of the last year, he has gone downhill quite a bit and requires a lot of care. One of his front legs does not work well, and he falls over quite a bit. He holds himself up on the good leg, but it gets tired after a while. We are looking for someone who could take him (along with his 2 ft x 2 ft cage) into their home. You would need to have air conditioning in your home to ensure that he stays comfortable. If you like, we can leave a video monitor for you so that you can keep an eye on him even when you are in a different room. Because he falls quite a bit, we need someone who is able to check on him every couple of hours during the day. This job would be fine for someone who works from home and can take breaks, but if you are away from the house for long periods of time, you would not be the ideal candidate. In the morning, please take Do-Do outside on the grass for 15-20 minutes when it is cool. Afterwards you can put him back in his cage indoors and ensure that he has fresh water, pellets, and kale throughout the day. His litter can be scooped into your organics waste green bin. He will eat the most in the morning and in the late evening because rabbits are crepuscular, meaning that they are most active during dawn and dusk. During the day he does not eat as much, and it is fine to let him stay lying down for a couple of hours at a time when he falls over. He should be stood back up every couple of hours during the day to give him the opportunity to eat. Help him to stay upright long enough until you know he has time to eat enough. He will also eat kale while being held (in case you are finding that he is falling a lot). When he is no longer showing an interest in eating (and perhaps he has already fallen over on his own), we lie him down with his head and body on the small towel in his cage (but his bum off the towel so his poo falls into the litter), and we let him sleep for an hour or two. He has water in his cage but in case he is not making it to his water bowl because of his mobility issues, we also give him water by cupping a little water in our hand and offering it to him while we hold him. You can also put a little water on your arm and he will lick it off and enjoy getting a little salt from your skin. We try to take Do-Do outside for a little fresh air, exercise, and to nibble the grass at least a couple of times per day, as long as it isn't too hot outside. He is fine at temperatures up to 28 degrees, as long as it is for short periods of time. When Do-Do is indoors, he is not able to stay upright on any smooth surfaces, such as floors. If you want to put him down outside of his cage, you will need to put an old towel down for him (and he is also fine outdoors on the grass). We noticed that Do-Do gets diarrhea when he eats certain plants, such as lettuce, cabbage, dandelion greens, and celery. We also do not feed him carrots or fruit because they are too high in sugar for rabbits. He is fine with kale, parsley, plantain, and most weeds and grass he nibbles on outside. We will bring kale when we drop him off at your house, but you will need to purchase kale or parsley throughout the week to feed him. Please let us know how much you spend, and we will pay for it. Do-Do's main source of calories is from his rabbit pellets. We will provide these for you. It is important that he stays upright long enough each day to get a good feeding of pellets. We noticed he eats well very late in the day, so please ensure that you get him up to eat before you go to bed, even if it's very late. We need someone from Friday August 12th, until late in the evening on Friday August 19th. We will pay you $40 each day, for a total of $320 for the eight days. How to Connect: Please send a message.
