Pet Sitter Job in Jacksonville, Florida

I'm an
Individual
Hello! I'm currently searching for a sitter with veterinary experience for our rabbit, Milo. Preference will be given to someone actively employed with a local veterinary office. Will pay what's requested with potential for tip, or pay will be commensurate with experience. We value our sitters, and believe they should be paid accordingly for the expertise, access to immediate medical care, and peace of mind that they provide! Our current need is for a 3.5kg, medium-small sized rabbit, with head tilt and E. Cuniculi. Not in an active flare, as he's currently under treatment (12hr. dosing, 2x visits a day). Usual protocols - wash hands after handling, wash hand _before_ touching any other rabbit to prevent transmission of the parasite, non transferable to healthy humans, etc. While he is not currently in a flare, he still has very special needs. Our desire is for a medical professional (or adjacent) in case there are any sudden changes to his condition, which could mean trauma, death, or need for a euthanization if left unattended for more than 24 hours. Additionally, he will require oral medication and visual inspection with each visit. Pretty quick and easy for the vet techs we had sitting before. We've worked very hard to get him through the worst of it. While his head tilt can appear quite jarring at first, he's quite content and still very happy about treats! He is ambulatory again, and can dart around any carpeted areas of the house, but hasn't regained the balance to handle hard floors as easily. Rubs... well, don't hold out hopes that you'll be able to snuggle the bunny. He wasn't very social before all of it, and while he'll stand a bit of soft touching to the ears or forehead, too much stress could cause another flare. As such, he's an 'all four on the floor' (ie, do not pick up) when it comes to meds and feeding. Fortunately, I have spent a _lot_ of time in the past year getting him trained to takes meds right from the syringe. Unfortunately, because he shouldn't be picked up or moved about, boarding is not an option for him (well, that and the E. C.) Veggies will be provided, pre-bagged, and ready to put out for each visit. Anticipate 2 paid visits each day, morning and night, but we are flexible on the hours (free 9a and 9p? - great!; 6a and 10p? - still works!). Written instructions will be made available. We would also like a text update with picture(s) for each visit. On average, our previous sitter was in and out within ten minutes. Unfortunately, said sitter has moved further north in the city, and into a much better role at another practice, so they will no longer be able to venture our way. Thank you for your time reading through this. Let me know if you have any questions, and have an excellent day!
