Pet Sitter Job in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Hello! My name is Jessica - I am looking for an experienced in-home pet sitter for my two dogs and two cats. My partner and I are currently in Cole Harbour but are relocating to Shubenacadie in the near future. We are looking for someone to pet-sit situationally as needs arise. Our pets include: - Asher: 9 year old Shep cross. Very easy going and laid back -Blu: 4 year old cattle dog. Sweetest girl, but is fear reactive towards dogs and new people (but warms up with proper introduction). More details below. -Kevin and Kalvin - 2 and 3 year old indoor cats. Very sweet and easy going, but Kevin is an escape artist. Our biggest concern is our reactive dog, Blu. As mentioned, she is dog and people reactive, so needs special understanding and care. Experience with reactive dogs is a must for us. If you are a good match, we can chat more about her needs. She is on medication 2-3 x daily, so must be comfortable giving medication. Duties would include: - Daily care for dogs, including: - Feeding 2x a day, - Filling water as needed - Medication for Blu (2-3x day in pill pockets - she is not difficult) - Bathroom breaks as needed (at least 3-4x day, fenced backyard) - Exercise (There will be a 1 acre fenced backyard in our new place for them to run/play in, so throwing the ball for them for 20 minutes in the morning or evening is lots. They will mostly exercise themselves!) - Daily care for cats, including - Ensuring feeders are full (they are on auto feeders, so this is low maintenance) - Filling water as needed (they drink from the same water as dogs) - Scooping litter boxes as needed (once every day or two is fine, they are on pretty litter so fairly low-maintenance) - Making sure cats don’t escape when you come in/out of the door. What we require from you: - Experience pet sitting - Experience with reactive dogs - Love of animals - Responsible and trustworthy - Three references that can speak to your experience (including at least one reference that can discuss your experience with reactive dogs) - Willing to work with a special needs dog - Must be positive reinforcement/fear-free mindset Other notes: We require someone that will not have guests over during the time they stay, due to Blu’s needs. If we end up finding someone that really works for us, we would be happy to slowly introduce a friend/partner of yours so you could have a visitor that Blu is familiar with while pet sitting. The dogs and cats are fine to be alone during a normal 8-hour work day. Pay is flexible. I’m sure there are things I’m forgetting, but I think that’s fine for now. Looking forward to hearing from you!
