Hi there! My name is Anna-Therese, and I can\'t wait to meet you and your pet! I have held a great love and respect for animals since I was very young, and have owned many pets over the years. Besides working with my own animals, I have had the opportunity to work with animals, mostly dogs, from many different families. Each animal has their own story, temperament, personalities and needs, and I truly enjoy working and adjusting to the different requirements and challenges each new pet brings. Recently I had the pleasure of working as a pet bather/groomer at a pet spa in Calgary, where I worked with dozens of dogs and cats everyday. From bathing to brushing, from nails to teeth, from matts and tangles to cleaning out ears, I learned a huge amount about caring for these animals. I also developed the ability to patiently and consistently work with animals to calm their nervousness, help them if they were injured or elderly, or even train unruly dogs and puppies to cooperate better during sessions. From sponge bathing tiny, elderly Chihuahuas to de-matting huge, rambunctious Newfoundlanders, I have worked with dozens of different breeds, learning much about the individual tendencies each type of dog has. In terms of cats, I learned the delicate art of bathing them (playing with death, I know), as well as clipping their nails and checking teeth and ears for cleanliness. I get along with animals, and they get along with me, because I respect them and their boundaries while providing them with a firm but gentle leadership they can trust and obey. Besides being a long time pet owner (three dogs, four cats), I worked as a pet bather/groomer, with both cats and dogs. In addition, during a job as a personal assistant I helped care for two large dogs (Airedales). I have been around animals all my life and have the patience and practice to work with animals of all temperaments. I can perform basic grooming, including bathing, brushing, mild to somewhat intense de-matting, nail clipping, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, anal glands (small dogs only), and very simple trimming. Mostly only on dogs, but I have experience bathing cats as well and performing ear/nail care.
