I started volunteering as a Winnipeg Humane Society foster caregiver for rescued cats about 6 months after retiring from my career as a registered nurse. I have over 40 years of experience of living with and caring for cats, rabbits and budgies. Sometimes all at the same time, while sole parenting an active daughter, and maintaining my career. I love cats, rabbits. and budgies and enjoy chatting while sitting with them. Cuddling is good for both of us. I prefer feeding cats twice a day, providing fresh water once per day, and litter cleaning twice per day. I sanitize litter boxes once per week, or as you would do if you were at home As it is less stressful for pets to remain in their own homes while their caregivers are away, I will happily tend them in their usual environments, following their usual habits. I will dispose of used litter, garbage, and recyclables, appropriately in your outdoor bins. Taking in mail and flyers is included if you wish. I can do shovelling, as needed to tend to your furry, feathered family. Your own arrangements for snow clearing would be welcomed, as well. Vaccinations must be up-to-date. Directions for medications, post-surgery care, cast care, exercise needs must be clearly explained in a written format. Contact information for your preferred/regular veterinarian and a pet carrier must be readily available in the event of an unexpected ailment. If you wish, I can text or email you, with reports on your cats, bunnies or budgies. Whether or not you accept my offer to lovingly care for your 4 legged family members during your absence.
