Personal Profile: I am an animal lover, just like the rest of my family. So yes, I am one of those girls who gets excited whenever they see a dog in public, especially puppies, and will be the first person to ask "Can I please pet your dog?!" In fact, I have been known to spend more time with people's pets (it truly does not matter what kind of pet they are), during family visits or house warming parties, than with the people I'm there to see themselves. My family has opened up their hearts and homes to animals in need of some TLC whenever they can, and as a result I grew up with so many animals that it’s hard to keep track of just how many. We have always had an animal in the house, or on our five acres of property, ever since I remember. I’ll spare you all of the details, but I have experience with various animals of all ages – including: cats, rabbits, dogs, gerbils, goats, horses, fish, and even deer (and that’s excluding my friend’s pets). With all of that being said, I have over fifteen years of experience when it comes to taking care of, playing with, and making sure an animal is happy and healthy – because I don’t view them as just a “pet”, I consider them to be a part of my family. I am a full-time college student, who also works part-time, so not being able to take care of my own pet at the moment is a little disheartening, but that means I'll be able to give your pet all of the love and attention it deserves whenever you are away. I'll be as flexible as I can with my schedule so that I can spend more time taking care of your family member. Further personal details: My roommate and I are both college students, so we do not own any other animals, do not smoke, and we do not have children. We live on the second floor of an apartment complex, so unfortunately we do not have a yard. However, I do enjoy being outside and frequent the River Walk, nature trails, The University of Alabama campus, and arboretum, so I would be happy to have some company; I also enjoy tagging along with my friends when they take their own dogs to the dog park. Other experiences: Administering oral medication. Animals recovering from surgery or injury. Animals with anxiety – general or induced (by loud noises like thunder or fireworks). Aiding with live birth. Sickly animals. Animals with cancer. Animals with disabilities – particularly deaf and blind. Older and younger animals. I also have experience with different breeds of dogs, including: Pit Bulls, German Shepherds, Shiba Inus, Labrador and Golden Retrievers, Shih Tzus, Poodles, Bulldogs, Chihuahuas, Boxers, Pugs, Yorkshire Terriers, Australian Cattle Dogs, Mountain Curs, and many more. Service Abilities: I am comfortable with pet sitting (staying the night if necessary), feeding, facilitating exercise, entertaining/playing, bathing, cleaning litter boxes or cages, cleaning up after if sick, and administering medication if necessary. What I would like to know about your pet: I would like to know how they interact with other animals and people. I would also like to know if there are any medications they are taking (just as a precaution), as well as things they are afraid of, don't like, cannot have (like food), and things that I should not do around them - so that I do not upset them in any way.
