Greetings. My name is Milinda May. I have worked with dogs and cats and small animals all of my life. I have been self employed with my own businesses and then family owned businesses (with my husband and children) for @ 37 years, beginning with my first home based boarding kennel at age 13! At age 13 yrs, I also included my first DOG WALKER option with the boarding kennel. My best friend was my first employee :) KENNEL ATTENDANT- Later I moved on to an official job with an employer. My duties included but were not limited to: opening the facility, walking the dogs, cleaning kennels, feed and water, light obedience training-things I already knew how to do very well. PROFESSIONAL DOG and CAT GROOMER (30 years): Learned to groom through a pre-vet tech class in high school. Obtained employment and furthered my training with master groomers in various states. I have groomed show and pet dogs in; Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Alaska and Ecuador. I have basic knowledge of wound care as I have worked in numerous ANIMAL HOSPITALS grooming and assisting the vet techs with medical emergencies. As a DOG SITTER, I have cared for Dobermans with cancer, elderly dogs, potty trained puppies, ran with energetic dogs and lust loved on the lovable. I learned to TRAIN SERVICE DOGS in Ohio. Training is my luv. I really enjoy training! To date, our organization, SEAK-A-DOG (Southeast Alaska Assistance Dog) has placed over 10 dogs successfully with people with PTSD, Autism, Mobility needs, personal protection and therapy needs. We use direct, stern, gentle methods that the dogs really respond favorably to. We also train humans to interact and communicate lovingly and effectively with their dogs. ;) Other related interests include but are not limited to: I have SHOWN, BRED and MUSHED Siberian Huskies. Been involved with Rottweiler BREED RESCUE and used them for SEARCH and RESCUE in North Carolina. I am mature, compassionate, reliable, don't do dr_gs of any kind . I will care for your pets, love on them and use gentle direct methods to teach them manners if you so desire also.Equally important, I adhere to confidentiality laws and believe it is extremely important to respect and honor the confidence of my employer; whether a company or an individual. I am available for pet sitting, dog walking, dog training and other pet related duties.
