Dorothy is the only person we would let watch our pets. She has watched our two chocolate labs for several years now, when my family has travelled. Our one lab was a senior and was not well for a few years, but because of Dorothy, we were able to take time out and go on vacation. Both our dogs loved and trusted her. The elder dog who was easily stressed, experienced no stress when we went away. It was a godsend to be able to go away and not ever have to take the dog out of her comfort zone. Our younger dog loves her too. Dorothy is adept at learning the nooks and crannies of each dog's personality. She is an avid animal lover, and a wonderful person.

April 16, 2017 Corinne Colen 515 Broadway, SoHo New York, NY 10012 To all Cat and Dog, Mom’s & Dad’s, I am delighted to write on behalf of Dorothy McGrath, for whom I am forever indebted. I’m a cat mom, and because my business was always in my home, my cats accustomed to being with people all day long. If I had to leave them alone for long periods in a day, they became uneasy and terribly lonely. Certainly not for 8-10 hour stretches at a time. For those cat folks, you know that cats do not like disruption….they feel safe and secure when their routines are well established. Dorothy has the lovely ability to appreciate and enjoy all the animals she cares for, whether it is as kitty sitter or dog walker! She loves them both. And with the years of animal rearing herself, she has a breadth of knowledge that many pet owners don’t have or are not aware of. My last two kitties were older when Dorothy met them, but it was clear very quickly that she fell in love with them. They adored her gentle nature and calming demeanor. As time wore on and their illnesses became more complex to care for, requiring increased delicate and accurate medications. She is adept at being able to administer them without hesitation. We would discuss and practice together if need be so she was confident in my absence. Since I traveled regularly to California to visit my parents, it was critical that I had someone I trusted and was confident that if there was any kind of emergency, she knew exactly what to do, where to go and how to get there! I had the added requirement of needing her to stay over while I traveled. For me it was a peace of mind, but also, more importantly, that my animals felt safe and comfortable even while I was away. A measure of my trust and confidence in Dorothy was that I was happy to give her a set of keys to my apartment. This is something I did after two short trips. In once instance, she helped a dog she had been walking, who had been long suffering from the owner’s unwillingness to seek veterinary care and neglect, find a new, most loving home with a welcoming family who were ready to get her the medical attention she truly needed. The dog is now a happy, healthy, vibrant pup. Dorothy is totally respectful of boundaries, both of the animals she cares for, but also the owner’s wishes and recommendations, as long as it is in the best interest of the animal. Additionally, Dorothy has a wonderful talent for photographing portraits of the animals she cares for. They are sensitive, allowing the owners to have a glimpse of their personalities that are not always seen! Her images have become special gifts and even provide special memories of ones departed.
