From the day I was brought home from the hospital I’ve had a furry companion. Throughout my life I’ve grown up with a dog by my side every step of the way. I began rescue work at the age of five, volunteering actively with Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California where I worked as a child tester. Even at such a young age I understood dogs on a personal level and could read them enough that the organization trusted me to be around their animals. As I grew up, my responsibilities also grew, until I became the dominant leader of BHRSC’s adolescent volunteers. Leaving is never an easy thing to do, even if the destination is a picture of paradise. Your best friend is staying behind and you’ll always wonder what they’re doing and how they are.
