When I retired from teaching high school journalism, I wanted to find employment caring for animals. I have always had dogs and cats as pets and wanted to pursue my new career in being the best animal tender I could be. I enrolled in the HCC animal curriculum learning a wealth of information about animal physiology and the best ways to communicate with many types of critters great and small. As part of the curriculum, I also had an internship atf Citizens for Animal Protection learning how to deal with injured animals, give shots and medicine, etc. I have also read a great deal of animal-based literature and books in order to be more effective in having a two-way communication with them. I have been working as a dog walker for the past two years and have never had any problems. Many of my furry clients can't wait to see me and I care a great deal about making them happy. As to logistics, I have dependable transportation, a positive outlook and always face the pets with a smile and pats treating them as I treat my own.
