I grew up with dogs of a wide variety, ranging from a Jack Russell terrier to a Labrador retriever to a malinois. I currently own a German shepherd whom I train myself and is my pride and joy. I feel that with our dogs we never stop learning and the more we stop talking and pay attention to them the more we can understand. I believe in being kind and gentle but also being firm and consistent. In many ways dogs are like children and they will kick and yell to get there way, they will get cranky and angry, they may even bite but with a little understanding, a lot of time and a ton of patience you and your dog can have a bond nothing can break. I view trust as the most important aspect in my relationship with my dog, the more trust we have the more he WANTS to obey me and doesn't have to be forced. I have worked with a lot of dogs growing up anywhere from pet sitting and walking the neighbors dogs to helping out friends. I worked in a more professional setting at a dog kennel for 6 months before moving. There I got to learn a lot as well as gain valuable experience working with a variety of breeds, ages and temperaments. The root of it is I love dogs and I'd be pretty happy getting paid to do something I love, wouldn't you?
