I have always been around animals, since our family was always big on having pets around. I grew up with a Husky named North, and a Calico cat named Weasel when I was young, as well as canaries and many different types of fish. Later on we had a Persian cat, Rosa, and a Malamute named Kody. And that was all before I left the "nest"! Once I was on my own, I decided I wanted to adopt a long-haired grey and white male cat, whom I named George, and we had several great years together. When I met my boyfriend, my beautiful George had recently passed. Within a month of moving in together, we knew we had to have cats around, and adopted two from a farm in Sarnia - Zap and Bobby (male and female). They have been part of the family for almost 4 years now. When I describe my love for animals, there is a story I sometimes tell about when one of my good friends came over to my house when I had George. Since I had adopted him as an adult, he came with some quirks, one of them being that he didn't like his tail to be touched. My friend decided to sit down on the couch, and ended up sitting on George's tail, to which George gave him a quick but soft swat to let him know he didn't like it, so my friend smacked him. So I told my friend firmly, "Don't you ever hit my cat again - this is his house, not yours!" If you are looking for someone who will respect and care for your cat or dog, then I can give you that. Of course, dogs need more firm discipline than cats, as cats and dogs learn differently, so I can also be firm when needed. Simply, whatever your "parenting" style, I will do my best to match it.
