Hello! My name is Elissa and a people person as well as an even better dog person. I have a dog of my own who is my pride and joy. He is a handsome three year old boxer/ ridgeback mix named Caine who goes everywhere with me. He is Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Certified (who I trained myself). For the past four years I have worked as a shift lead at a doggie daycare called Camp BowWow. I prepare all meals (dry and wet) for the dogs who are boarding, deep clean all the kennels (cabins is what we call them), and watch over all the dogs in the play areas. I also give medications when needed: pills, ointments, eye drops, shots, etc. Through this job, I am Pet First Aid Certified. A year ago I was sent to Colorado to be trained as a Certified Dog Trainer/ Animal Behaviorist through this same company. I teach Level 1-3 basic and advanced dog training classes at the facility. I have been training for a year now and absolutely love it! Unfortunately I can not do any paid training outside the facility, that is why I am focusing on dog sitting/ care. Another job I do is dog bathing and front desk at a local dog groomers in Avondale called See Spot Clean. I prep all dogs so they are ready for the groomers. I shampoo, condition, clean ears, trim nails, express glands, blow dry, and brush out. I have handled a dog as small as a tea cup Yorkie to the big ones as large and furry as 170 pound New Foundland. Aside from dog sitting and walking I can also offer dog bathing if needed. I also run the front desk so I am answering calls and checking in and out clients all day. I know all of the hair types, blade lengths, summer cuts, winter cuts, shampoo recommendations, reasoning for skin irritations, etc. We offer self serve tubs in the lobby for clients to use all day. I explain and help clients with bathing their dogs, showing them how to brush and blow out, trim nails, etc. I have worked this job for a year and a half and love it. I am currently working both these jobs but still my schedule is very flexible.
