I'm a veteran who stays at home all day, and in the last 4 years I have worked with several volunteer organizations for retired racing greyhounds, I understand the need for daily help or for a few nights so you can get away with no concerns. I have 3 dogs living with me who are social and very friendly, and always eager to meet new playmates. This is very much a dog household, where your dog can use the pet bed, couch, or even sleep in our bed with us at night if that's what he/she is used to. We have a fully fenced in backyard with dog door access from the kitchen. My rescue work has been with GPA-WI, GPA-AZ, GO, Hounds of Fairhaven, and I'm signed up with GAC here in San Diego. (GPA = Greyhound Pets of America, GO= Greyhounds Only (WI charter)) I have fostered, transported, done meet and greets, home visits, walking, microchipping, general care. How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs. I've had dogs most of my life, from a mutt when I was barely able to walk, to a boxer throughout highschool, long haired miniature daschunds, and then finally my extensive work with Greyhounds of the last 4 years. I love to integrate them in my life, I love to meet new dogs, and take pleasure in seeing happy dogs. What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences? No breed preference. Knowing if crate training is needed or not is good, as well as treats/food/toys they prefer. I prefer to set up a meet and greet before the drop off date, so you can see my home, meet my dogs, and I can meet your dog(s) beforehand, but I understand if time does not allow for that. I can make changes to my schedule literally at the last minute. Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency? I have a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander. Are you comfortable administering medication? I am. Whether cleaning and wrapping surgical procedures, giving liquid or pill medication, or just maintaining a watch on a serious cut or scrape. Due to having thin skinned Greyhounds, I use Vetricyn in my home, as well as a liquid bandage, and have a separate first aid kit just for dogs. How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day? If they are in my home, you can pretty much count on 24hrs a day. If I'm visiting your home, amount of time required can be discussed, but plan on a minimum of 30 min each visit. If you have a backyard, please describe it. Fully fenced backyard, with enough room for my two greyhounds to get their full zoom on! Where will my dog sleep? Wherever you prefer. In a crate? That's ok. In a soft crate? Got it covered. Dog bed on the floor? Couch? In my bed? It's all ok. This is a free reign dog home. Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it. Around my neighborhood or yours. Taking your dog to a dog park can be discussed for an additional fee, and providing your dog will respond to my commands.
