Pet Sitter in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

As a first generation Afro-Cuban immigrant, my family has struggled to obtain what the world knows as the American Dream. My mother expanded her childhood love for animals and now she is the practice manager of a Veterinary hospital. My grandmother was the first of her siblings to come to America and graduate college, later advocating for abused immigrant women. As the oldest child in my family, it is my turn to make a difference in the world. I have chosen to make people feel beautiful. I am currently a cosmetology student at the Jean Madeline Aveda Institute, and will attend the Philadelphia School for Massage and Body Arts next fall. I am eager to promote a healthy, all natural lifestyle for myself and others. I believe the world of beauty is not accessible enough. As someone who is hearing impaired, I know of how uncomfortable it can be going to a loud salon and not being able to communicate with my stylist. As someone who has been confined to a wheelchair for a year and a half, I also know how difficult and burdening it can be to try and come anywhere near a salon. To me, this is not right. It is my dream to make everyone feel beautiful, regardless of language or physical barriers. Everyone deserves to be well. Attending an Aveda Institute has taught me the importance of an all natural lifestyle from the products that I use every day on my body, to the food that I eat and the water that I drink. Aveda has also taught me environmental integrity, and I wish to continue its work by creating products that are never harmful to the body, let alone the Earth in which we inhabit.
