Hi, my name is Kira and I am a student at Colorado State University who is home for the summer. I love to go on walks and runs at the Dog Beach at Lighthouse field, Henry Cowell State Park, Wilder Ranch, and Nisene Marks. I also enjoy doing shorter walks closer to home for older dogs. I have experience with dogs, cats, birds, fish, horses, goats, and pigs. I am happy to meet and learn about any other animals as well. My qualifications include: - Four years at a horse ranch, where I rode, exercised, fed, and groomed. - Three years at the Santa Cruz Animal Shelter where I worked with dogs. - Five years as a pet sitter for neighbors, where I walked, fed, and looked after dogs, cats, and birds. - One year as a intern for a large animal vet in Santa Cruz. - Four intensive months as a full time intern at the New England Wildlife Center in Massachusetts where I took radiographs, assisted in surgeries, administered splints and bandages, administered oral, SQ, and IM injections to species including many species of passerines, doves, owls, hawks, swans, geese, raccoons, squirrels, and opossums. - Five weeks as a full time intern for the Conservators Center in North Carolina, where I did meal prep and cleaning for large cats such as Tigers, Leopards, and Lions. - Four months as a full time intern at the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station in Miami, Florida, where I fed, cared for, took radiographs, assisted in surgeries, administered splints, bandages, and medications for many species of seabirds such as pelicans, gulls, sanderlings, and more, as well as screech owls, chickens, ducks, passerines, parrots, squirrels, and opossums.
