Hello! My name is Maddie. I have grown up caring for animals and consider it a huge part of my life to this day. In high school, I cared for the companion animals at the Dallas Zoo. Now, as an adult, I have fostered dogs for around 5 years now with a focus on medical illnesses or injury cases. I ran a small animal rescue and rehab in Texas for 4 years with a focus in rats, guinea pigs, and other rodents. I also trained service dogs for a nonprofit for 3 years while living in Texas and now train service dog on a contract basis here in Arizona. I have cared for dogs with spinal cord injuries, diabetes, seizures, and more. I can give liquid, pill, injection, and IV medications. Our house has a fenced yard with a doggie door and I work from home so I can provide almost round the clock care and supervision. I have 3 dogs of my own, all very friendly with other animals. One is my current service dog, Hera. She is a 7-year-old, 65lbs, American Staffordshire Terrier. The second is Cheevers, he is a 10mo old distemper survivor with neurological damage, also an American Staffordshire Terrier. Lastly, is my new service dog in training, Strata Luna, a Newfoundland puppy born in June 2019. I also have a hedgehog name Prickleberry who keeps to himself. I also make raw food based on prey model and BARF model. I do training on making nutritionally accurate food and have a published book on the subject. I have taken pet nutrition courses to aid in this as well.
